Dear Parents/Readers

The flowers and the grass are showing signs of Spring! The young calves are jumping and the mothers are franticly chasing them about! I so love this time of year because everything smells fresh, and looks new and alive! The frogs are even starting to sing their songs from the now flowing creeks.

Our district is still enjoying The Bakersfield Museum of Art! Brent, our instructor, is an artist and designer and the students are learning new and creative art design each week! It is always something new and exciting! The last week of February students were outside with a special piece of paper that allowed students to use the sun to help create a unique design. This has been a fabulous experience for students and staff. Every Friday Caliente and Piute Mountain School students come together to learn and experience the wonderful world of art!

Cold and flu season is still with us! We are asking staff and parents to assist us in combating the easily spread germs by sanitizing, taking extra hygiene precautions and staying home if feeling ill or exhibiting flu-like symptoms. The CDC has requested that anyone having a fever not return to school or work until they have gone twenty-four hours fever-free with no fever reducing medication.

In the event of a power outage at our schools, we will need to send students home after one hour. Please make sure your student and family have an emergency plan in place and the school is notified.

I want to thank Frank and Gloria Sitler for donating a fax machine to the school district! I want to thank all the volunteers for helping out with Whiz Kid Day, Feb. 25. Next month I will list all our wonderful volunteers and all the results from this event!

Parent Project; Due to wild weather my plan is to send out a flyer for the senior version of Parent Project the first week of this month. The senior version will help parents with children that are aged 12-20. The program will be opened for all parents in our community. Please give me a call if you have any questions or if you are interested!

We collect Box Tops for Education and Campbell’s soup labels. Every little bit helps toward the education of our students. The district is still collecting aluminum cans and plastic bottles, too.

Acts of service is a crucial thread in the fabric of success within our community.
